Derby Canyon Clean-Up Recap

Chris Hager
/ Categories: Media, Chapter News

On Saturday June 3rd, a group of Washington Backcountry Hunters and Anglers and Wenatchee Sportsman Association members did a road and shooting area clean up in Derby Canyon in Central Washington outside of Leavenworth. Clean up included picking up random trash on the road, cleaning up several campsites, and cleaning up a very popular shooting are. Volunteers spent several hours at the shooting area, since there was years of shotgun shells and litter built up. One long-term resident of the area came by and thanked the volunteers, mentioning that the shooting area had not been cleaned up in years. By the end of the cleanup, the crew had picked up over 300 lb of trash, plus a pile of scrap metal. Shout out to Wenatchee Sportsman's Association for providing garbage bags and paying for dumping fees.
