Friend —
We Mustered! This year’s 3rd annual Muster in the Mountains in Western Virginia was amazing! To start, the venue at Devils Backbone Brewery was out of this world. Camping, bonfires, world-class buildings…I could go on and on…it fit our vibe to a T. The weather wasn’t too stifling and the smiles abounded. Bellies were full thanks to the staff at Devils Backbone and BHA members Rachel Owens and Wade Truong, of Elevated Wild, who prepared meat for our mouths for months…that beaver, though! The policy roundtable led by our D.C. insider, Kaden McArthur, had folks in rapture, in particular the conversation about next steps for the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act and Sunday hunting presentation by Capital Region board member Isaac Weintz. Isaac, you left no doubt about your expertise!
Money was raised thanks to a plethora of participation by corporate partners and BHA friends. The best part for me though were the multiple conversations that stoked the fire in my belly. Josh, the furbearer biologist, Senate chef Kyle and his family, Dan and Sara Hahne, parents of BHA's Andrew Hahne, and our Armed Forces Initiative doers...just to name a few. Thank you, all, for what you do! None of this happens without hard work. Huge tip of the hat to all of the Capital Region chapter leaders and in particular Chapter Chair Jeff Amell. I’m forever grateful for the time and talent you lend BHA. I’m already looking forward to next year!
Wondering how you can grow our BHA family? Sign up the businesses you own, work at or frequent for a BHA Business Membership. Doctors’ offices, car dealerships, local eateries, etc. …all are eligible. Starting at $100, there's a level for everyone! At $1000 we throw in an amazing elk print from Ed Anderson…priceless.
As you move through the dog days of summer, keep them fish wet and get your fitness on. Shorter days and cool nights will be here before we know it.
Onward and upward,

Land Tawney BHA President and CEO
