Washington BHA

Congratulations to Washington BHA for being named Chapter of the Month!

The Washington chapter recently sponsored 100 multi-season deer tags in coordination with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife in an effort to combat the spread of chronic wasting disease among ungulates in the state. CWD has yet to be detected in Washington but has been as close as 50 miles from the border in the neighboring state of Idaho.

The Washington chapter of BHA has recognized the threat of CWD to its deer populations and has acted accordingly by encouraging hunters to get their deer tested for CWD. By being proactive, the chapter hopes to educate the public while also working toward early detection in order to lessen the spread of the disease once it is within the state borders.
