Join the PA Chapter July 11-12 for the 2020 Pennsylvania Trail Challenge! Part of BHA's annual Hike to Hunt, this 27-mile, two day backpacking trip will take place in the Loyalsock State Forest.
Hikers will leave as a group from the Old Loggers Path Masten Trailhead at 6 a.m. Saturday, July 11th. Participants will travel “counter-clockwise” on the trail.
Participants are encouraged to meet up Friday night and camp near the trail head. Hikers need to bring and carry their own overnight gear and food. Hikers should be prepared to hike about 15 miles both days. This hike is expected to be of moderate difficulty, with a total elevation gain of 3,805 feet over 27 miles.
Directions:
To reach the starting point, go 2.7 miles southwest of Ellenton on LR 41110 or 9.4 miles up Pleasant Stream Road from PA 14 at Marsh Hill. Look for parking near the stop sign in Masten, a ghost lumber town. The starting point is a short distance down Pleasant Stream Road. The approximate coordinates for the trailhead are 41.507293, -76.820805.
