New York Chapter Rendezvous Recap

The NY Chapter Rendezvous was a great time! In the shadow of Whiteface Mountain along the Ausable River, the Hungry Trout Resort was a picturesque (check out the pictures below!) spot to build community with our members.

Rendezvous kicked off Friday night with a Conservation Dinner with three amazing speakers. NY Chapter board member Brandon Dale, Patagonia Fly Fishing Ambassador Rachel Finn, and taxidermist and conservation author Brant McDuff engaged the crowd on topics from hunting mentorship to taxidermy to climate change.

On Saturday we started with a hike up Bear Den Mountain, a tree identification hike, and jumped right into seminars for the day. Saddle hunting, fly casting, turkey hunting techniques, western hunt pack dump, and tracking big bucks in the Adirondacks rounded out the outdoor skills track. Meanwhile, a turkey butchering demo, creative use of organ meats, curing wild game, and making moose lihapiirakka completed the food track.

We wrapped our events with raffle drawings as well as a live auction. Some attendees went home with some great prizes courtesy of our sponsors.

We ended the day with a campfire, telling stories and strengthening the team that is NY BHA!

On Sunday we teamed up with the Ausable River Association to do an OnX sponsored river cleanup. We had about a dozen folks show up between the two organizations. Adirondack River Rentals Kindly donated kayaks, canoes, and stand up paddle boards for us to use to float the river.

Big Shout out to our event, chapter, and HQ Sponsors.
