NMBHA Improves Riparian Habitat & Hunts Spring Gobblers

Our first project partnering with the USFS in the Lincoln National Forest was a success in many ways. After kicking off the weekend with a Pint Night at the Downshift Brewery's Hidden Taproom in Ruidoso, BHA along with AFI members made camp and enjoyed a campfire while sharing stories and planning out the morning hunts. While many miles were covered Saturday morning, no one was able to connect with a tom. Pausing only for a quick lunch and change of clothes, volunteers headed to the nearby ...

Author: Montana BHA

Fathers and Hunting

Author: Leland Hart
My father has been a lifelong hunter, fisherman, and general outdoorsman. His limited success has paradoxically inspired in me a deep love for hunting and fishing.   On his annual waterfowl excursion to the Lake Huron waters near our home, my father struggles to wingshoot; he jokes his shotgun must have a defective curved barrel. Fishing seems like a ...

MIBHA joined with many other conservation groups, tribal governments, and municipalities surrounding Camp Grayling to oppose ...

We helped to kick things off this session by joining with our conservation partners for Camo at the Capitol, meeting with the new Chairs of the House Resources and Conservation ...

Backcountry Bistro: Montana BHA's 2023 Wild Game Cookoff Recipe

Author: Aaron Agosto
Grilled Elk Steak and Morel Sandwich with Elk Tallow Twice-Fried Frites and a Montana Bush Pilot   When I think of Montana and reflect on what it took for me to harvest an elk this year, I think of hard work, hearty meals that fill you up, and maybe a fun, surprise at the end to wrap everything up. This is a recipe that Helena Regional Leader Anne Jolliff and I made to represent the Montana Chapter in the Wild Game Cook-off during Rendezvous this year. We decided to make an ...
