The proposed Ambler Industrial Road could dramatically alter Alaska’s Brooks Range, and the hunting and fishing opportunities we enjoy there. The Bureau of Land Management is accepting public comments on this private industrial corridor through Dec. 22, 2023. Now is the time to get informed and make your voice heard.
Renowned caribou biologist Jim Dau will be traveling from Kotzebue to share his fascinating presentation—including mapped collar data—on the impacts of the Red Dog Mine haul road on Western Arctic Caribou. This research provides useful insights for understanding how the proposed Ambler Road may impact one of Alaska's largest caribou herds.
We'll also discuss:
* What this proposal could mean for fish, wildlife, and people in the Northwest Arctic
* Myths vs. facts about the proposed Ambler Road that all Alaskans should know
* How you can influence the outcome of this decision (and the easiest way to have your opinion included in the BLM’s official record)
You’ll leave this event with the information and tools to make your own decision about the proposed Ambler Road and to participate in this public process.
