When: Friday, October 16, 2026 | 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM
Where: Pier 5 Fishing Station | Brooklyn Bridge Park | Brooklyn, NY

Whether you've been fishing your whole life or have never made a cast, come spend a fall evening on the water with fellow anglers, BHA members and friends. We'll fish the East River, share some basic angling skills and talk about the public waters, access and habitat that make opportunities like this possible in the heart of New York City.

No experience is necessary.

What to Expect

  • Fishing from the Pier 5 Fishing Station

  • Basic instruction for new anglers

  • Knot tying, casting and fishing tips

  • A chance to meet BHA members and other NYC anglers

  • Conversation about public access, clean water and conservation

  • One heck of a view of New York Harbor and Lower Manhattan

Brooklyn Bridge Park's designated fishing area is located along the west promenade of Pier 5 and includes bait preparation tables and fish cleaning stations.

The fishing station is located at the end of Pier 5 along the west promenade.

What to Bring

Bring your own rod and fishing gear if you have it. Some rods will be available to borrow for the evening.

Dress for October weather on the waterfront. Conditions can be cooler and windier on the pier than elsewhere in the city. Be sure to fill out your marine registry with NYSDEC and the Brooklyn Bridge Park Website for more info on fishing there.
