Join the Michigan Chapter of Backcountry Hunters & Anglers for A Dam Conversation on April 10 at Lansing Brewing Company. Tickets are only $10 online and $15 at the door. 

Featuring speaker Brian “Koz” Kozminski of True North Trout, the evening will focus on two significant dam issues currently affecting Michigan rivers: Boyne Mountain Resort’s efforts to re-permit an aging hydroelectric dam on the Boyne River, and Consumers Energy’s proposal to sell 13 hydroelectric dams across the state.

Together, we’ll discuss the potential implications for public access, river stewardship, and long-term management of these waterways. Topics will include potential liability gaps, dam safety and failure risks, transparency surrounding the Boyne River project and the proposed dam sale, and what these developments could mean for anglers, paddlers, and the communities that rely on healthy rivers.

This event is designed as an open conversation for those who care about Michigan’s public waters and fisheries. Whether you’re deeply involved in conservation work or simply interested in learning more about the future of our rivers, we welcome you to join the discussion.

The event will take place at Lansing Brewing Company, where we will have a reserved space for the evening. Food and beverages will be available for purchase through the brewery, and parking is available onsite.

Michigan Backcountry Hunters & Anglers merchandise will be available for purchase, and we will also hold a raffle featuring prizes from national, state, and event partners.
