Join the Missouri Chapter of BHA on April 17th-19th at Peck Ranch Conservation Area in Winona, MO for a campout and habitat improvement day, as well as a unique peek behind the curtain of Missouri’s elk!
Participants for the weekend will arrive Friday evening and are encouraged to set up camp and get settled in. Once settled, the area biologist will give a presentation on the area and the elk that were reintroduced there.
On Saturday morning, MDC Area Biologist Jonathan Fusaro will give instructions on the habitat projects that will be conducted for the day. Once projects are assigned, groups can disperse about the area to begin the day’s tasks. Once complete, participants are free to continue to explore the area, shoot at the archery range, drive the elk driving tours, head to a nearby stream to fish, or just hangout at camp. We will have a bonfire that evening to meet fellow members and talk all things hunting, fishing, and public lands!
Please be prepared with whatever gear is necessary for you and your family to camp for 2 nights. MO BHA will not be providing food and water for participants, this is YOUR responsibility. There are bathrooms in each camping area on site, but no running water or electric. Feel free to search for other lodging, camping, or RV parks nearby if you are in need of additional amenities. Make sure to dress appropriately for the weather and to work outdoors, the mornings and evenings in April can still be very cold. Closed-toed shoes or boots are recommended. Any tools or equipment required for the habitat projects will be provided to you, no need to bring your own.
It is important to RSVP for this event ahead of time so that we can get an estimate on the number of people to expect. Hope you can join us. We can’t wait to be fireside after improving public lands all day!
