Grab your gloves and come get your hands dirty with Backcountry Hunters & Anglers at York Prairie State Natural Area!
We’re teaming up with the Wisconsin DNR to help care for one of southern Wisconsin’s last native prairie remnants—an incredible public landscape that supports wildlife, pollinators, and wide-open spaces worth fighting for.
Our mission for the day: cut and treat woody invasive brush and stack it into burn piles to help keep the prairie open and thriving. It’s hard work, but it’s the kind that makes a real difference—and it’s a great excuse to spend time outside with good people doing meaningful conservation.
State Natural Areas are open for low-impact recreation like hiking, hunting, birding, and exploring, and this is your chance to give back to a place we all get to enjoy. Expect fresh air, honest work, and the satisfaction of leaving the land better than you found it.
