Friend —
You did it! Not only did you make conservation and access a priority for Congress; they listened and passed the Great American Outdoors Act overwhelmingly 310-107. The legislation now heads to President Trump’s desk, and all signs point to him signing it into law!
Just think what we can do with $900 million every year for the Land and Water Conservation Fund...$900 million! That’s more fishing access sites, easements to inaccessible public lands and fee title purchases for large conservation priorities. And that’s not all: $9.5 billion over five years for the backlog of maintenance on our public lands...high time for an investment and hopefully a sign of funding priorities to come.
Thank you. I really can’t say it enough…you did it! I highly encourage you to thank your elected officials. This recognizes them for their great work and also sets us up for positive results on future conservation priorities. Send a thank you here.
I hope you are finding time to celebrate this once in a lifetime win outside. My son Colin and I went on his first backpacking trip into the Scapegoat Wilderness. Nineteen miles in three days. I am happy to report he didn’t complain one bit. Trail huckleberries, talk about other galaxies, and hanging our food to be bear aware…priceless! On to the next adventure!
Onward and upward,
