Expert fly fishing into the heart of the Alaskan Backcountry!

Denali Fly Fishing Guides specializes in Arctic Grayling, the sailfish of the North. The north flowing Nenana River drainage on the doorstep of our Cantwell office offers bountiful natural grayling stocks. These ravenous surface feeders are thrilling to catch on a dry fly whether you are a seasoned fly fisherman or it’s your first time with a fly rod. Denali Fly Fishing Guides offers personalized and fully outfitted fly fishing excursions into the valley between the Alaska Range and the Talkeetna Mountains. Trip opportunities include: 4 1/2 hour, 6 hour, 8 1/2 hour (full day) and multi day trips using lightweight fly gear pursuing Arctic Grayling and other fish in the area. All trips, except float fishing trips, are on foot near small mountain streams offering a true wilderness experience within sight of Denali. Beginners are welcome and will get a full fly casting lesson, as well as an introduction to the basics of fly selection, catch and release techniques, and reading water. Trips include round trip transportation from area hotels and lodges to our office on the bank of the Nenana River. They fish the Nenana River and many of its tributaries including: Fish Creek, Jack River, Brushkana Creek, Seattle Creek, Bruskasna Creek, Wells Creek, and many other wild rivers and creeks! These wild waters can be very cold, even in the summertime. The Nenana river is a glacially fed river, reaching a maximum temperature of about 37 degrees F during the hottest times of the year. The headwaters of the Nenana river lead you to the Nenana glacier situated in the Alaska range, where it is actively carving away at the mountains surrounding--leaving the river silty for much of the ice-free months.

Midnight Sun Brewing Co. began commercially producing ales and lagers for the fine people of Alaska in 1995. Midnight Sun is the oldest brewery in Anchorage and the second oldest statewide. Their first beer was Wolf Spirit Sparkling Ale, a beer inspired by their president and founder, Mark Staples’ time in Australia. Kodiak Brown Ale was their second offering and then on from there. Today MSBC produces over 40 different ales and lagers a year. Some are available year-round, some seasonally, and others just once.

Midnight Sun has been pioneering styles and brewing methods for over two decades lending to our characteristic flavors that the hearty people of Alaska have come to know and love. Their water is the key ingredient to making Alaska-style ales. The very soft glacial-fed waters of the Chugach Mountains are the canvas on which we create our art. Certainly the water is what makes beer from Alaska so distinct.

About Mark Lindberg: After a 38 year career as a Wildlife Biologist (1984-2022), including 28 years in Alaska, Mark retired and starting pursuing photography. His career as a wildlife biologist gave me an "eye" for capturing wildlife images and he has really enjoying pursing mammals after a career of mostly working with birds.  Caribou are his favorite subject because they are so charismatic and they take you into such incredible places. Mark enjoys capturing images of wildlife in "action" like during the rut. His interest in capturing action photos also extends to sports photography, where he also enjoys providing HS athletes with some photos.

What started as a hobby has turned into something of a second career and he now does some guiding and photo journalism. Mark is increasingly interested in using his photography to advance conservation. Contact Mark if you think he can help with your photography needs.
