Join the Salmon-Challis National Forest, Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation, Backcountry Hunters and Anglers, and Tread Lightly! on Saturday, September 23rd for a National Public Lands Day event in beautiful Summerhouse Canyon on the Lost River Ranger District.
Volunteers will use hand tools to build buck & rail fence to protect sensitive wildlife habitat and rehabilitate trails to improve sustainability of the Summerhouse Canyon Trail #4177. Volunteers should expect to work outdoors in the unpredictable fall weather often experienced this time of year in Central Idaho and should come prepared with appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (work boots, long pants, long sleeve shirt, eye protection, and gloves). Meals will be provided on Saturday. Volunteers should bring additional snacks for themselves and plenty of water.
Volunteers who would like to camp in the area are encouraged to join the group on Friday night at the Summit Creek Recreation Area located in the Little Lost River Valley. The site is equipped with vault toilets. Breakfast will be served at approximately 8:30 am on Saturday, and then we’ll make our way to the trailhead for a full day of work.
