Becoming a PA Hunter: Butchering Clinic

IMG_9346.jpegJoin BHA volunteer Will Nelson for a comprehensive course in home butchering techniques from harvest to table. Will is a hunter, vegetable, and livestock farmer from South Central PA and will be assisted by BHA PA board member Adam Eckley.  We will process a sheep and demonstrate techniques breaking down the animal from the hoof to the table. This course will be beneficial for anyone who wishes to learn how to process their own big game animals.

Just a few of the many topics we will demonstrate and discuss include:

  • Field Dressing
  • Skinning
  • Quartering
  • Primal Cuts
  • Finished Cuts
  • Aging
  • Equipment
  • Preparation methods

There will be plenty of time for questions. This course is free and will be limited to 10 participants, so sign up now using the RSVP below.

This event is one in a series by Pennsylvania BHA titled “Becoming a PA Hunter.” The virtual and live events are aimed at helping novice hunters, or those merely interested in hunting, learn more about the sport.
