Are you new to hunting in the North Carolina area? Did you recently get stationed in North Carolina and think hunting might be a great way to get off post and see the state? Did you recently retire from service and are interested in connecting with your peers and reconnecting with the natural cycle of the world through hunting? If the answer is yes then please consider attending this event. Come learn not only how to hunt turkey in the Nantahala National Forest in North Carolina but why to hunt and how hunting and hunters play a pivotal role in the North American Model of Wildlife Conservation.
This is a dual-skills camp where attendees will be mentored through a hunting experience from the planning phase through the post-harvest meal prep. BHA Mentors will host attendees in the field talking through the ins and outs of turkey hunting.
Attendees can expect to learn:
turkey habitat
turkey habits
e-scouting with OnX
planning with Spartan Forge
turkey calling and set ups
use of decoys
shot placement
how to clean and process a wild turkey
history of public lands and waters
The North American model of wildlife conservation
