Colorado Backcountry Hunters & Anglers Appoint Phil Armstrong Roaring Fork/Eagle Valley Group Assistant Regional Director

[EasyDNNnewsLocalizedText:Author]: David Lien
Phil grew up in a family of sportsmen and sportswomen, learning to hunt and fish from his parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles. “One of my earliest angling memories is paddling a wooden-canvas canoe with my grandfather in Maine, casting flies to trout and poppers to bass,” he said. Growing up, summer vacations were spent on family river trips, which Phil credits as instilling both outdoor and conservation ethics in him and his siblings.  “Hunting has also been an integral part of my ...

Colorado Backcountry Hunters & Anglers Appoint Chris Parmeter Gunnison Valley Group Assistant Regional Director

[EasyDNNnewsLocalizedText:Author]: David Lien
Chris was raised in a little logging town in the coastal range of California. “When I was in junior high I’d come home from school, dump my books, and wander off into the woods ‘till after dark,” he said. “From high school on I worked after school - but they were always outdoors jobs.” He hunted black-tail and mule-deer with his grandpa, dad and brothers when he was young, and fished with his grandpa and grandma before that. “When I was a little older it was all about wild pigs. Then I moved ...

BC BHA Launches West Kootenay Alpine Lakes Citizen Science Project

[EasyDNNnewsLocalizedText:Author]: British Columbia
The West Kootenay table of the BC Backcountry Hunters & Anglers has launched a citizen science project to collect information on West Kootenay alpine lakes fisheries.  Over the last several decades many of the alpine and sub-alpine lakes in the West Kootenay were stocked with rainbow and cutthroat trout, which are well adapted to alpine lakes. Stocking was often done by helicopter but due to the increasing cost of the stocking program and evidence of low angler visitation to the lakes, the ...

It's time to modernize PA's antlerless license system

[EasyDNNnewsLocalizedText:Author]: Pennsylvania BHA
Whether by working to ensure walk-in-access to our favorite hunting spots or breaking down barriers to recruit new hunters, BHA PA strives to improve access and opportunity for hunters throughout Pennsylvania. Senate Bill 431, introduced by Senator Dan Laughlin, proposes to improve access by authorizing the sale of antlerless deer licenses through the Commonwealth’s new Hunt Fish PA website.
