Habitat improvement on a recently acquired addition to the Klipnocky State Forest followed by backwoods BBQ and forestry walk. BHA members will be working with the DEC lands and forests division to create brush piles, plant seedlings and create brush cages to protect seedlings from deer browse.
Volunteers will have to fill out a volunteer form and provide a copy of their ID. We ask that volunteer forms be sent to [email protected] before the event. If volunteers would like to use chainsaws for habitat improvement, they must provide a copy of their GOL certification and a copy of their up to date first aid certification. Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own hand tools, snacks, and water. Long sleeves, insect repellant and sunscreen recommended. In the event of inclement weather, we have a rain date scheduled for May 6th. We’ll be having BBQ lunch on site afterwards with hotdogs, hamburgers, and sides. Feel free to bring a cooler with your own drinks or a side to share. A forestry walk is also available after lunch for anyone that is interested.
