This workday will have Kansas BHA members helping regional KDWP officials posting a new 7,700 acre Walk In Hunting Area in South Central Kansas. This will be a great opportunity for BHA members to help with a large public land project and have access to see this large acreage prior to going into the WIHA program.
This is a very remote location so we will meet at the Phillips 66 Station in Mullinville, KS @ 8:30 am on the 29th, then travel to the site with KDWP.
Things to know and items to bring:
- This is a large location to post so we will pair up with KDWP when possible but there will be a lot of miles to cover by foot.
- We will be driving small metal posts with WIHA signage for most the day.
- Boots, long pants, long sleeve shirts, gloves, hat, bug spray (ticks will be bad) and water will be the main things to bring.
- a 2 or 3 pound hammer if you have one as we will be driving a lot of posts. There will be some extra available.
- Tool Belt or Nail Apron would also be handy to carry tools and fasteners
- We will have plenty of extra water along and BHA will provide lunch for the group.
- Because of the lack of road access we could use extra side by side UTV’s, if you can bring one contact Lynn Peterson for more information or questions.
