Join the Ohio Chapter of Backcountry Hunters & Anglers (BHA) for our "One More Cast at Cowan Lake" event on Saturday, October 24!

As the fall fishing season winds down, we are gathering at Cowan Lake for a family-friendly afternoon of community, conservation, and casting. This event is your absolute last chance to get out on the water before the lake is drawn down starting November 1 for major dam repairs—a project that will impact water levels for the next two years! Come enjoy the full lake one final time and talk about what these upcoming changes mean for local habitat and water management.
What to Expect: • Make-Your-Own Fishing Jug: Build your own classic catfishing jug right at the event to take home for your next trip. • Catch, Clean & Cook: Bring your catch to shore! We will have stations and supplies on hand to show you how to clean your fish, plus cooking setups to fry them up fresh. • Free Hot Dogs & S'mores: We’ll keep the fire going with complimentary hot dogs and s'mores for everyone.
Boating & Camping Information: • Bring Your Boat: Make sure to bring your own boat, kayak, canoe, or other small watercraft so you can take full advantage of the lake's current water levels before the drawdown begins! • Camp with Us: Want to make a weekend out of it? We have reserved 3 campsites near the boat ramps to serve as our base camp. If you plan on staying the night, we highly recommend reserving your own campsite in the B01–B17 range so you can stay close to the crew and the action!
Come connect with fellow Ohio outdoorsmen and women, talk public water access, and enjoy a great afternoon by the lake. Bring your favorite rod, bring your boat, bring the family, and let's celebrate the end of another great season together!
