EVENT DETAILS
September Archery Elk & Deer season is right around the corner on the Rio Grande Del Norte National Monument. What an exciting time for archery hunters this is! Join Habitat Stewardship Coordinator Elden Aguilar, as we work in partnership with Taos BLM Field office to remove an old netwire fence on the San Antonio Mountain. This project is funded through RMEF (Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation) to help create better habitat connectivity for herds of Elk, Mule deer, & Pronghorn Antelope during the migration season. There are three sections on the mountain with remaining netwire to be removed and modified. We will kickstart the first round by, removing a mile on the southside of the mountain to prepare for a more wildllife friendly fence to be built by the BLM in the Fall.
After all of the hard work is done. Sunday, we will be having an archery shoot for volunteers who plan on camping with us after the event, BYOB! (BRING YOUR OWN BOW). NO Competition. just kick back, socialize, fling some arrows, & brush up on those shots before the season starts on public lands.
Come out and gain good hunting karma and inspiration on your public lands! Volunteers will be entered to win a $250 gift card to Sitka.
