Join Us for the 8th Annual Salmon River Weed Pull & Trash Cleanup! August 8th, 2026
Spend a day on one of Idaho's most iconic rivers while giving back to the public lands we all enjoy.
The Idaho Chapter of Backcountry Hunters & Anglers and Trout Unlimited's River of No Return Chapter are hosting our 8th Annual Salmon River Weed Pull & Trash Cleanup, and we'd love to have you join us. We'll be removing invasive weeds (knapweed), picking up trash, and helping keep the Salmon River healthy and beautiful for wildlife and future recreation.
We will be floating from Watts Bridge (approx. 9 miles N. of Challis) to Cottonwood Campground near Ellis. Bring your own inflatable/kayak/canoe and help improve public lands along the famous Salmon River.
We will be departing Watts Bridge at 9 AM and should be on the water until about 4 PM. A wild game lunch will be provided on the river. Meet at the Watt’s Bridge boat ramp by 8:30 AM to load the boats and be ready to hit the water at 9!
Bring your own personal items like PFD, sunscreen, bug spray, water and gloves. Please wear appropriate shoes for getting in/out of the boat and walking around pulling weeds.
Please leave your dog at home unless they can be contained in your own boat.
What to Know:
- We will depart from Watts Bridge Boat Ramp at 9am on August 8th.
- Plan to be on the water for 4 to 6 hours.
- River gear and lunches are provided.
- If you have your own raft, kayak, drift boat, or other river craft, feel free to bring it along.
- No prior stewardship experience is necessary, just come ready to help and enjoy a day on the water!
Come out, meet fellow BHA folks, and help care for one of Idaho's greatest treasures. We hope to see you on the river!
