Interested in boots on the ground stewardship work that directly impacts wildlife? Idaho BHA has you covered, we are looking to remove around .75 miles of barbwire fence. This effort will directly influence migrating big game animals and open more habitat connectivity.

The Burnt Creek Wilderness Study Area (WSA) is nestled at the foot of the Lost River Range in central Idaho and is known for its scenery and wilderness characteristics. Within this unique area is a large fence protecting the critical bull trout spawning waters of Burnt Creek. BHA and the BLM are looking to take out old fencing that is spanning Burnt Creek as well as outdated fences near the creek.

The project location is about a 2-hour drive from Challis Idaho. This is a remote area of the state with no services so make sure you pack what you need and have enough gas in your vehicle. The roads to the site are on unimproved dirt roads, a high clearance vehicle is recommended for accessing this area.

For campers bring what you would need for a weekend out on public land.

If you don't want to camp but still would like to volunteer, meet the group at the work location on Saturday. Please RSVP if you are coming to the event at the top of this page.

Schedule:

Friday August 28: Friday evening camp, this is not mandatory for the event.
