Join AFI Connecticut at Red Brook Tenkara's fifth annual White Mountains Tenkara Camp Out — a grassroots fishing celebration set in one of the best wild trout fisheries in all of New England.
This multi-day event brings together anglers of all experience levels to fish the streams of White Mountain National Forest, learn from expert instructors, share a camp cookout, and connect with a community of people who love the outdoors and the simplicity of tenkara. New to tenkara? No problem — instructors will have you on the water in no time.

Cost:
- $70 — Event with campsite
- $60 — Event without campsite (book nearby lodging at Dolly Copp or other local options)
Capacity: 90 attendees maximum
Weekend Schedule
Friday
- 2:00–5:00 PM: Registration and campsite assignments at Barnes Field; welcome packs distributed
- 5:00 PM: Social time at Big Day Brewing; late check-ins welcome
- 5:30 PM: Camp Out introductions and general information
- 6:00 PM: Presentations by guest speakers
- 6:30 PM: Steve Angers of North Country Angler presents on local waters
- 7:00 PM: Small group discussions — find your fishing crew and plan your spots
- 7:30 PM: Raffles and close
Saturday
- Morning: Fishing in small groups; breakfast on your own
- Afternoon: Optional tenkara instruction stations on the lawn; fly tying at camp; continued fishing
- Evening: Group cookout provided by staff (potluck additions always welcome); campfire hangout
Sunday
Raffles
This event features two raffles: a donated raffle for all attendees and an AFI-run paid raffle with prizes sourced by the CT AFI Liaison. Gear categories include fishing packs, tools, nets, apparel, gift cards, and more.
Who Can Attend
This event is open to everyone — anglers of all skill levels, families, and first-timers are encouraged to attend. We especially welcome members of the military community: Active Duty, Reserves, National Guard, Veterans, and Gold Star Families.
You do not need to be a BHA member to attend.
