BHA is teaming up with the California Department of Fish & Wildlife (CDFW) and the Society for the Conservation of Bighorn Sheep (SCBS) for another sheep survey in the Marble mountains! The survey will be conducted on Sunday, May 31st, with folks gathering for a safetey briefing and camping the evening prior at
Volunteers will meet at our campsite on the evening of Saturday, 5/30 to discuss the plan for the next day's survey, go over safety instructions, and enjoy each other’s company. Early the next morning (around 5am), teams will split off to hike to survey sites, and spend the day glassing for sheep. We will aim to finish up by early afternoon, to avoid hiking in peak heat.
Folks should bring their own food, snacks, water, camping gear, binoculars/scopes, and hiking gear. Hiking to survey sites will be semi-strenuous, and temperatures may get into the 90's or higher, so please come with the appropriate gear and pace yourself.
