Coordinates are 38.19212,-108.21630. Located on Montrose county road 526 (Sanborn Work Center Road) approximately 1 mile NW of intersection with Montrose county road 530 (Sanborn Park road. Nearest town is Norwood CO, 81423, approximately 10 miles from the project site.
BHA will be assisting the Forest Service with developing an existing well to provide a reliable water source for wildlife. Goal is to install a solar pump and plumbing to provide water to a livestock/wildlife tank and a wildlife guzzler. We will also build buck and pole fencing around the storage tanks and the wildlife guzzler to exclude cattle. Access roads to the project area are high standard gravel and dirt roads that accommodate any vehicle.
This portion of the Uncompahgre Plateau is within GMU 61 which is a limited hunting unit that is known for large bull elk and mule deer bucks. The project area is within an extensive area of ponderosa pine forest and gambel oak that provides quality habitat for Merriam's turkey as well. The dates of this project are within the season for OTC bearded turkey, and the work hours should provide for morning and evening turkey hunts! Children and well behaved dogs are welcome to attend. Plenty of dispersed camping is available in the area.

Friday May 8th 0900-1700 - Dinner and beverages provided at sundown. Please let us know if you plan on staying for happy hour and dinner so we can bring plenty of food and beverages.
Saturday May 9th 0900-1200
What to Bring
Work gloves, boots, hat, sunscreen, lunch and snacks each day (all tools will be provided by the Forest Service)
