ITA x BHA Pend Oreille Ridges: Idaho Centennial Trail Trailwork - Sandpoint, ID
Event Start Date: 7/17/2026 8:00 AM
Event End Date: 7/19/2026 3:00 PM
Timezone: PDT
After a scenic drive to Lunch Peak Lookout, we'll begin a three-day backpacking project on the Pend Oreille Divide Trail. Idaho Trails Association has been steadily improving this trail for several years, working from both the north and south ends. On this trip, we'll hike to Pend Oreille Peak and continue trail work from there, focusing on the four-mile middle section that connects our previous efforts and creates a more continuous, accessible route.
From there, the trail follows a high ridge with stunning views in every direction. We'll wind past several peaks—including Mount Pend Oreille—while taking in sweeping panoramas of the Purcell and Selkirk Mountains. This stretch is also part of the Idaho Centennial Trail, a 1,000-mile route that ITA proudly helps maintain each year. Join us for a rewarding weekend of trail work in a spectacular alpine setting.
This is a three-day backpacking project. All participants are required to have their own backpacking gear and food. ITA will provide tools.
