Arizona AFI is Hosting a Gould’s Gobbler Data Gathering Survey in the Coronado National Forest!
Why You Should Want to Attend:
The Armed Forces Initiative of Backcountry Hunters & Anglers connects the military community with hands-on conservation efforts that directly benefit wildlife and public lands. Join Arizona AFI and partners from the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) for a unique opportunity to assist with a Gould’s turkey population survey in the rugged landscapes of southeastern Arizona.
The data collected during this event will help Arizona Game and Fish Department determine future tag allocations for Gould’s turkey hunts in the region. If you enjoy turkey hunting or simply want to contribute to wildlife conservation, this is a great chance to participate in meaningful field work that helps inform science-based wildlife management.
What It Is:
The Gould’s Gobbler Data Gathering Survey is a volunteer conservation effort focused on documenting Gould’s turkey populations in the Coronado National Forest. Participants will travel along designated routes and record sightings of turkeys, flocks, and sign that indicate turkey presence in the area.
