We need your help to clean up our trout streams!
Fishermen litter specifically ...you know what we’re talking about. We’re reaching out to you because we think you’ll agree that it’s embarrassing.
It’s March which means the West Virginia Chapter of Backcountry Hunters & Anglers is all about Trash & Trout
River Clean Up Event
We’ll be hosting our annual river cleanup on Paint Creek in Fayette County on March 28. This is a fantstic opportunity to get out and engage with some like-minded folks while improving our waters! Link up with some chapter leaders to find out what's coming up soon from the chapter.

What to bring: Gloves, fishing gear and whatever snacks, drinks or gear you need.
Annual Social Media Contest
We're always excited to facilitate the social media contest as we always receive some fantastic images of people enjoying our public lands and leaving it better than they found it! We’ll also be giving away some sweet BHA swag.
So how do you participate?
- Go fishing
- Pick up trash
- Post a photo with your trash haul in the WV BHA Facebook group or tag @westvirginiabha on Instagram with the hashtag #trashandtrout
That’s it! If you happen to catch a trout while you’re out there, pictures of your trash haul with your catch score higher.
On April 12th, we’ll pick the winners.
Now, get out there, step into those cold streams and pack out some trash!
