Come help the BLM and BHA create winter time browse for mule deer and elk through bitterbrush caching!
Caching is quickly planting seeds in the burned area while hiking. The Paddock Fire was a particularly large and devastating event, consuming extensive native plant communities in the hills north of Emmett, Idaho. This winter range is critical for migrating wildlife, and active reseeding can help jumpstart recovery and encourage the return of native vegetation and restoring habitat value over time.
The event will run from 8am - 4pm. Lunch and snacks will be provided from Idaho BHA.
Volunteers should plan for a day in the mountains, over the ankle shoes/boots, long pants and shirt, water bottle, backpack, and be comfortable be hiking at least a mile in steep mountainous terrain. All volunteers should download Avenza maps before the event.
