Idaho AFI is Hosting a Public Lands Cleanup and Upland Hunt near Mountain Home!
Why You Should Want to Attend:
The Armed Forces Initiative of Backcountry Hunters & Anglers is focused on building conservationists within the military community through hands-on stewardship and outdoor experiences. Join Idaho AFI for a day that combines public lands stewardship with an upland hunting opportunity on Idaho’s shared landscapes near Mountain Home.
This event highlights the connection between caring for our public lands and responsibly enjoying them. We’ll begin the day removing illegally dumped trash from public lands before transitioning into an upland hunt, reinforcing the idea that conservation and hunting go hand in hand.
What It Is:
The Public Lands Cleanup and Upland Hunt is a dual-purpose event that brings together volunteers to improve public lands while offering a mentored hunting opportunity for military-affiliated participants.
Attendees can expect to:

Remove illegally dumped trash from public lands near Mountain Home

Learn about public land stewardship and ethical land use

Participate in an upland hunt following the cleanup (military-affiliated participants only)

Build camaraderie through shared service and outdoor recreation

Enjoy a provided meal after the event

You do not need to be a BHA member to attend (but we’d love to have you join!).
Experienced upland hunters are welcome and encouraged to attend to help mentor others.
Interested observers are also welcome to attend the hunt portion.

Valid 2026 Idaho Small Game Hunting License (required — licenses will be checked)
