Washington AFI is Hosting a Predator Camp in Central Washington!

Why You Should Want to Attend:

The Armed Forces Initiative is Backcountry Hunters & Anglers’ program focused on creating conservationists within the military community. What better way to kick off the new year than by learning new skills in the field? Join Washington AFI for an immersive Predator Camp focused on predator hunting, wildlife conservation, and the role hunters play in balanced ecosystems.

This Dual Skills Camp brings together veterans and service members to learn from experienced mentors while gaining hands-on experience with both day and night predator hunting techniques. Participants will also engage in conversations with local ranchers and a wildlife biologist to better understand the impacts of predation on livestock, predator behavior, and how science-based wildlife management supports conservation in Washington.

What It Is:

The WA AFI Predator Camp is a Dual Skills Camp - a mentored, learn-to-hunt experience that walks participants through the entire hunting process, from planning and preparation to post-hunt discussion and conservation context.

Attendees can expect to:

  • Learn coyote behavior, vocalizations, and life cycle

  • Understand proper firearms and ammunition selection for predator hunting

  • Use electronic calls, mouth calls, spotlights, thermal scopes, and scanners

  • Practice effective day and night hunting techniques

  • Learn about public lands access and public/private land partnerships in Washington

  • Discuss how predator hunting fits into the North American Model of Wildlife Conservation

  • Explore why becoming a conservationist is a natural fit for the military community

  • And more

This year, Washington AFI has partnered with Hidden Ranch Outfitters, providing participants with comfortable lodging in rustic cabins and access to exceptional hunting ground in the Coulee City area.
