Washington AFI is Hosting a Waterfowl Camp in the Columbia Basin!
Why You Should Want to Attend:
The Armed Forces Initiative of Backcountry Hunters & Anglers is committed to helping the military community reconnect with the wild public lands and waters we all share. Join the Washington AFI team for the WA AFI Waterfowl Camp - a long weekend of duck and goose hunting, conservation education, and camaraderie in the heart of Central Washington’s premier waterfowling country.
This immersive experience brings together active-duty service members, veterans, and members of the military community from across the state to enjoy the rich waterfowling traditions of the Columbia Basin. Whether you’re brand new to hunting or looking to refine your calling and field techniques, Waterfowl Camp offers a unique opportunity to learn, connect, and grow alongside fellow service members and conservation-minded outdoorspeople.
What It Is:
The WA AFI Waterfowl Camp is a multi-day, mentorship-driven experience centered on community building and hands-on waterfowl hunting on Washington’s public lands. Participants will hunt agricultural fields, potholes, and river systems around the Othello area while learning the biology, ethics, and stewardship principles foundational to the North American Model of Wildlife Conservation.
Attendees can expect to:
-
Hunt ducks and geese in the renowned public lands and waters of the Columbia Basin
-
Receive mentorship-based instruction on calling, decoy placement, fieldcraft, and shotgunning
-
Learn about wildlife conservation, habitat management, and responsible public-land stewardship
-
Build camaraderie and leadership within the military community
-
Engage with BHA partners, regional conservation leaders, and fellow public-land advocates
