Celebrate National Public Lands Day on September 27 by helping remove old barbed wire fencing at Ron Stewart Preserve at Rabbit Mountain, located just 4 miles northwest of Longmont. This event is open to members and non-members alike, and children may attend, with supervision. Please note that dogs and other animals are not permitted.
Volunteers should be prepared for a short hike from the parking area to the project site. Tasks will include pulling fence posts, using pliers to remove and cut wire, and carrying old fencing to a designated collection area.
Participants are encouraged to bring leather work gloves, pliers, wire cutters, water bottles, camp chairs for lunch and any other items they find helpful. Long sleeve shirts are recommended. Extra gloves, pliers, wire cutters will be available. A free lunch, provided by BHA, will be served at the conclusion of the event.
Come enjoy a rewarding day outdoors while contributing to habitat restoration and public land stewardship! The event is limited to 80 participants, so if your plans change, please be sure to cancel your RSVP so we can offer your spot to another volunteer.
Please Note we will not be meeting at the main entrance to the open space. We will instead be meeting at the east end of the open space at the corner of Woodland Rd and North 75th St.
