Join the Pennsylvania Chapter of Backcountry Hunters and Anglers this spring for our fourth annual Introduction to Fly Fishing programming!
This series of free events is aimed at introducing fly fishing to those new to the pursuit through hands-on instruction and guidance from experienced anglers. Never fly-fished but want to learn? This course is for you. Our experienced volunteer instructors will help you learn the basics no matter how little fishing or outdoor experience you have. We provide everything for the day's activities.
This year, we will have three events:
- April 14- Introduction to Fly Fishing Day – Eastern PA
- April 21 - Introduction to Fly Fishing Day – Western PA
- TBD- Fly Fishing Campout Weekend – Northcentral PA
The Eastern PA event will be held at Evansburg State Park, Sunday, April 14 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Evansburg S.P. is located about a 45 minute drive northwest of Philadelphia near Collegeville, Montgomery County.

Topics include:
- Basics & concepts of fly fishing
- Fly fishing gear
- Casting instruction (on lawn)
- Fly tying demonstration
- Public water access and how to find places to fish
What is Provided:
- BHA will provide loaner gear and materials for the day, but participants are welcome to bring their own fly rod setup if they like.
- Lunch will be provided.
Who Should Attend:
- This is a free entry-level instructional course designed for those with little or no experience age 12 and over.
- Youth 18 and under must be accompanied by a responsible adult
- Bring friends and family – limit 4 persons per RSVP
Notes:
- Meeting place and additional instructions will be emailed to registered participants about a week before the event.
- Register early, spots are limited!

We can use additional help with this event. If you would like to volunteer, please contact Adam. We could use both experienced fly anglers and folks who can help with general support throughout the day.
