BLM Fence Prep Recap

On Saturday, June 27th, Oregon BHA Members alongside staff from the USFS and BLM ascended on public lands bordering the Deschutes National Forest to prep fence line for future retro fitting. Brush was cleared away from the fence to allow for future volunteers to replace the top and bottom strands with wildlife friendly smooth wire. Currently the fence consists of 3 to 4 strands of barbed wire and poses a thread for migrating ungulates and other wildlife. The collaboration between the Oregon Chapter of BHA, the USFS and BLM, plan on continuing this project during the fall. Overall, the group managed to clear 3/4 of a mile which was planned objective for the work party.

A big thanks to the USFS and BLM employees who made the trip out on Saturday and joined BHA staff and volunteers.
