The Armed Forces Initiative is the BHA program focused on creating conservationists within the military community. Dan Holloran is the AFI State Liaison for South Carolina BHA and is hosting a learn-to-turkey hunt event. Each participant will receive a free turkey call and a box of turkey load shells. This event is open to all members of the military community (Active duty, Reserves, National Guard, Veterans, and Gold Star families). You do not need to be a BHA member to attend, but we sure would appreciate it if you were. Any questions please reach out to Dan at [email protected].
This is a dual-skills camp where attendees will be mentored through a hunting experience from the planning phase through the post-harvest meal prep. BHA Mentors will host attendees in the field talking through the ins and outs of turkey hunting. After the hunt a regional expert will walk participants through turkey population challenges within the state.
Attendees can expect to learn:
turkey calling,
scouting,
and locating tactics
how to clean and process a wild turkey.
