Q: Location of event • What did we do well? • What needs to be improved?
A: I guess I’ll put this here.

I would recommend BHA strongly consider doing an indigenous land acknowledgement to kick things off. Paying tribute to the native community that occupied and cared for the land before us is a powerful and respectful practice that honors our ability to live, work and recreate on public land. It also demonstrates our commitment to hunters of color among us or watching us. Especially with the Blackfeet tribe engaging in the Bison break down, it would really be a powerful message that we see them, honor them and acknowledge they are here and thriving.

Q: Campfire Stories • What did we do well? • What needs to be improved?
A: Campfire stories were great. The amphitheater was a great venue for it. Keenan brought down the house and the first lady (missed her name!) Also told HER story which was totally different than anything I had heard before. Eclectic storytellers really stepped it up

Q: Wild Game Cookoff • What did we do well? • What needs to be improved?
A: Cook off atmosphere this year was super cool. Very laid back and able to engage with the competitors before, during and after a lot more than when I was at a Boise rende

Q: Awards Presentation • What did we do well? • What needs to be improved?
A: By that point, if you’d been there for a few days, the heat and sun was getting pretty brutal. We tried to grab some shade to watch it but we’re encouraged to go back out in the field to be supportive of the awards. Little rough

Q: Panel Discussions • What did we do well? • What needs to be improved?
A: Wanted to attend these but it seemed scheduling was difficult to nail down when things were happening. The amphitheater wasn’t really center stage for the weekend so it’s location kind of made it an afterthought

Q: Welcome reception • What did we do well? • What needs to be improved?
A: It was a pretty laid back kick off for the weekend. Not too much fanfare which was laid back (nice) but almost too laid back or informal to really get things kicked off for a big weekend

Q: Q & A with Directors & Board President • What did we do well? • What needs to be improved?
A: I honestly didn’t get to see as much of it as I wanted. It was slightly early in the day for such a significant part after a long night and getting camp organized in the morning over at site 2. Would like to see it a little later in the day

Q: Chapter Leader Training (if applicable) • What did we do well? • What needs to be improved?
A: Leader training was great, particularly the lobbyists giving advice on the political engagment process.

My breakout sessions we’re good, but I did hear one was underwhelming and hopefully someone from that session addresses it
