In December 2015 the Utah state legislature approved the use of taxpayer dollars to fund an unpopular $14-million-dollar lawsuit, aimed at “transferring” ownership of your American public lands to the state of Utah – a lawsuit that legal experts throughout the West have agreed is doomed to fail.
As illustrated by the sale currently underway in Utah of more than 5,000 acres of high quality state-owned hunting land, this public lands “transfer” is nothing more than a guise for a public land sell-off. Despite bipartisan agreement from legal experts throughout the West that this lawsuit has no legal standing, some Utah state legislators refuse to abandon this fool’s errand.
