event_description: Hosted by BHA volunteers Adam Eckley and Lyle Harvey, the Pennsylvania chapter presents Deer Scouting 101: Big Woods Whitetails. This event will focus on the introductory skills for finding and locating Whitetail Deer on larger tracts of land, especially in mountainous terrain. We will explore a tract of land near Ricketts Glen State park and SGL’s 57, 66, and 13, which together encompass over 100,000 acres of PA wilderness.Subjects covered:   - Map reading, e-scouting and navigation  - Reading Topography  - Identifying basic sign   - Understanding wind/ thermals   - locating travel corridors   - Stand placement and access   - Basic deer behavior Additionally, we will discuss proper techniques for using tree-stands on our walk, and Lyle will demonstrate the use and equipment required for tree saddle hunting.Meet at the Glens Lot Trailhead Parking Area off Rt. 118 at 8am and travel a short distance to the scouting area.
