As Americans we collectively own a vast wealth of public lands. This legacy is unique in the world and helps ensure that all citizens independent of age, race, religion, wealth or political affiliation have equal opportunity to access and enjoy them. Regardless of how you choose to spend time outdoors, a love for public lands and shared values unites us all.
To build a stronger, more understanding relationship between hunters and the general public, the NM Chapter of Backcountry Hunters & Anglers will once again be working with NMDGF Conservation Officers and Albuquerque Open Space staff to conduct a public outreach day during the 2021 November Youth Bowhunt in the Sandia Ranger District. Our efforts will be concentrated at trailheads in the Sandia foothills on Saturday, November 20, where a majority of the hunter/public interaction occurs.
We are seeking a diverse group of welcoming BHA members to work alongside NMDGF Officers at key trailheads from 7 am – 1 pm (shifts tbd based on volunteer interest and availability). Volunteers and officers will offer information and answer questions for interested passersby.
