Join New York BHA for a clean up in partnership with the NYS Wildlife Management Area team at Monty’s Bay Wildlife Management Area in Plattsburgh, NY on Saturday August 3 from 10 a.m. to about 1 p.m. Monty’s Bay WMA encompasses approximately 318 acres in Clinton County and borders Lake Champlain. This important habitat for both fowl and fur is open to public hunting in season and entices both deer and waterfowl hunters as well as trappers with muskrat and mink populations. The waterfront is a popular fishery for perch, bass, pike and other species.
Volunteers for this event will be assisting with trash/debris cleanup of the area. Bags and the disposal of debris will be provided. We recommend waterproof or water- resistant boots as some areas encountered may be marshy or muddy, and gloves.
We will be providing a grilled hotdog lunch and sodas/water so we do ask you RSVP below so we can provision properly.
There are no fees, and the parking area is located off Harmony Lane in Beekmantown, NY. (See image below)
Directions: Take Exit 40 of the Adirondack Northway (I-87). Turn east onto Spellman Road - turn right if coming from the south or left if coming from the north. Take Spellman Road east 0.5 mile to State Route 9. Turn right onto State Route 9. Take Route 9 south for 0.4 miles to Point Au Roche Road. Turn left onto Point Au Roche Road (County Route 22). Take Point Au Roche Road 1.7 miles east to Lake Shore Road and turn left onto Lake Shore Road. Take Lake Shore Road north for 0.2 miles and turn right onto Cemetery Road. Take Cemetery Road 1.7 miles to Dickinson Point Road. Take Dickson Point Road north for 1.7 miles to Harmony Lane. Turn left onto Harmony Lane. The parking area is on the left 0.1 mile, just past the 90° turn in the road.
Please note: Harmony Lane is a private road. Please do not park on the road. Park in the WMA parking area only.
