OR BHA Join NW Groups for OREC Funding

The Oregon Chapter, along with our conservation partners at the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership, Trout Unlimited and the Association of Northwest Steelheaders, submitted a letter to the Oregon Parks and Recreation Commission regarding the future of the Oregon Office of Outdoor Recreation (OREC).  The OREC, due to budget cuts, may cease to exist at the end of this year.

As recreational use on Oregon's public lands continues to grow, it is more important than ever that Oregonians work together in a collaborative way to ensure recreation does not negatively impact the diverse natural resources and fish and wildlife populations across this state.  The OREC is a huge piece of the puzzle in achieving this reality, and we are hopeful to see the Commission commit to a continued stable funding source for the office.
