Join the Florida Chapter at Osceola National Forest and bring your shotguns, fishing poles, tents, and kayaks to enjoy a weekend taking full advantage of our public lands. We will be camping at Hog Pen Landing right on Ocean Pond, but camping is not required in order to participate in any of the activities. Camping fees are $10 a day on a first come, first served basis. Free dispersed camping is also available close by. For non-campers day use fees for the campground/boat launch are $5 a day.
Our first hunt will begin at 6:00am on March 6th. We will meet at West Tower Osceola National Forest and walk the Florida Trail looking for rabbits, squirrels, and quail. From there we can head back to Hog Pen Landing to enjoy some fishing and lunch before we head back out in the afternoon.
Sunday morning at 6:00am we will meet at 17 Mile Camp Florida, 32087 on the southern edge of Big Gum Swamp. After we finish our hunt we will head to the western edge of the National Forest to clean up an open field known for public dumping. The field is just east of Scrappy Girl Quilts & Fabric LLC 1743 NE Gum Swamp Road, Lake City, FL 32055.
All are welcome: family, children, dogs, and non-members. Those who intend to camp must provide their own tents, food/water, and campground/day-use fees. Hunters must have a valid hunting license and WMA permit. Blaze orange is highly advised.
