Roy Shares a Boone and Crockett Brown Bear Taken With Copper

"Thanks for the rebate! I was also fortunate enough to take a record book brown bear with my Ruger .458 bolt action rifle in June of 2026.

I was using some Barnes TSX 450 grain bullets and it did a fantastic job!

I shot the bear from 13 yds. at my bait station, through both front shoulders.  In an explosion of strength, the bear launched up from its lying position, reversed course and charged back towards the cover of the woods in an instant.  I was already chambering another round and the bear's chest hit the ground that was sloping upward and he was only 10 yds. away at this point..

With the front shoulders taken out, I was able to quickly fire 2 more rounds into the left side of the bear, behind its shoulder.  It never made it 15' from the bait barrel.

I was able to recover 2 of the 3 rounds from the body of the bear and the bullets performed flawlessly.

This large boar was 10' 4' with a B&C skull size of 29 3/16" after the 60 day drying period."
