OH BHA Joins Partners to Take Legal Action Opposing Permitting Process

History In 2011, a law was passed permitting natural gas drilling at state parks in Ohio. (Ohio Senate approves bill to allow oil and gas drilling at state parks). Largely due to public concern about the impact on state parks, then Governor John Kasich effectively eliminated leasing of these lands by not appointing members to the Oil and Gas Land Commission (Ohio House bill would ease fracking in state park). There were various attempts to restart the process, but none was successful until ...

Fish and Wildlife Commission Fail Wildlife, Collaboration in Cougar Rulemaking

Author: Chris Hager

In a heated dialogue, a slim majority of commissioners ignored department staff, the Agency’s director, and the minority vote, to issue a narrow directive for rulemaking that will ...

Federal Policy Update: April 2024

The House of Representatives took a rare unanimous vote earlier in April to pass outdoor recreation legislation supported by BHA, showing bipartisan commitment to the outdoor recreation community. Throughout this month, the Department of the Interior and the U.S. Forest Service released a flurry of significant conservation announcements, many long championed by BHA and our members. Seemingly having forgotten the wide applause for their bipartisan legislation earlier in the month, the House ...

Hunting and Fishing Opportunities Threatened on Mendenhall State Game Refuge

Author: Anonym
Alaska BHA is committed to fighting for wild places and critical habitats that give hunters and anglers an opportunity to participate in the outdoor heritage of hunting and fishing in a natural setting.
