FWP outlines proposed new policy for free landowner elk tags

Author: Montana BHA
New guidelines and timelines for Montana landowners to apply for a free either-sex elk hunting tag will go before the Fish and Wildlife Commission for approval on April 19. For decades, only a ...

Montana BHA Responds to '454' Program Changes

We have long encouraged FWP to improve the 454 agreements, including most recently at March’s EQC meeting and in an oped published by one of our board members, Jake Schwaller. Senate Bill Would Greenlight Sale of Public Lands Out of Public Hands

Lee and the bill’s other sponsors claim that S. 4062 would alleviate the housing crisis. However, it is similar to legislation that Sen. Lee floated back in ...

4/11/22 NMDGF Game Commission Recap

Author: Joel Gay
New Mexico elk hunters could see big changes including unlimited OTC private land hunts in GMU 34 and a prohibition on muzzleloader sights, while turkey hunters could get a longer season plus a chance to draw Gould’s turkey tags as the State Game Commission considers big game proposals outlined at their meeting in Santa Fe on Monday. But the biggest surprise of the day was a last-minute effort to revise the Bighorn Rule and potentially give resident New Mexico hunters better access to ...

The Bankhead National Forest in Alabama is a place of shadowed canyons and rushing coldwater creeks, crystalline waterfalls and bluff shelters blackened by the smoke from campfires over thousands of years.
