2023 Michigan BHA Rendezvous Recap

That connection was on full display from July 28-30 as dozens of passionate public land owners made their way to the Looking Glass Sportsman Club for the 2023 Michigan BHA Rendezvous. Friday night the campground came to life as people ...

After a brief from the WDFW biologists, teams split off to hike into various "high-priority" trails where WDFW wanted us to go look for mountain goats. All groups made it in and out of the wilderness safely but unfortunately did not spot any ...

2023 Muster in the Marsh Recap

Through multiple months of planning, meetings, new connections, and collaboration, we were able to celebrate our public lands and water amongst some of the finest - ...

EVENT RECAP: Yellowstone WMA Hands-on-Habitat Day

On Saturday, July 29th, Montana BHA joined forces with Pheasants Forever and Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks for a fence pull on the Yellowstone Wildlife Management Area.     The 4,500-acre property provides valuable habitat for pronghorn, mule deer and a variety of upland birds. The former - the pronghorn antelope - stand to benefit most from this fence removal, as fences like the one we removed are likely to cause harm or force pronghorn to travel great distances out of their way ...

Montana BHA Improves 7 Miles of Trail in the Lee Metcalf Wilderness

Author: Montana BHA
At the end of July, Montana BHA staff and volunteers spent three days with the Forest Service improving trails in the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest. The work will benefit hunters, high-alpine anglers, backpackers, and backcountry horsemen alike.      After meeting at basecamp, the Bear Creek Bunkhouse, on Friday morning we hit the trail. Our first order of work: clearing old water bars. Water bars help divert water off the trail, keeping the trail dry and stable. Over time, dirt, ...
