Utah BHA had a voice in several of Utah’s Regional Advisory Council (RAC) meetings in 2025, including written statements and in-person comments at meetings. Our RAC Advisory committee had a broad reach at RAC meetings throughout the state.
Some highlights include:
- Voicing support for eTagging system as long as location data is kept private.
- Supporting increased hunter opportunity with a larger number of general and limited entry deer tags for the 2025 season.
- Encouraging the Division of Wildlife Resources to identify objective criteria for awarding limited entry elk tags to landowners; Utah BHA spoke out against anything that would privatize wildlife.
- Opposing variance requests for Cooperative Wildlife Management Units that would have taken opportunity from public hunters.
For 2026 we are hoping to have a Utah BHA presence at at least one RAC meeting per region (Northern, Central, Northeastern, Southeastern, and Southern). If you live in any of these areas and would be willing to speak on our behalf, please join our committee. No experience necessary! Contact Adam Denison at denison.adam@gmail.com if you want to get involved or if you have questions.
The Wildlife Policy committee meets monthly to decide which DWR proposals we could support or those we might oppose.
If you ever wished to have more of a say in how our wildlife is managed, this is your opportunity!
