Join us for a day or two of fence pulling in Moffat County near Maybell, CO. With this fence pull comes a special treat! We will start Saturday and Sunday mornings with a sharp-tailed and greater sage grouse lek viewing with CPW biologist and grouse expert Brian Holmes. If you've never seen these critters do their very elaborate and interesting mating dances I recommend putting this event on your calendar! This project will greatly enhance wintering habitat for elk and mule deer but also the sharp-tailed and greater sage grouse.
Sponsored by Bar-U-Eat
What to Expect: Volunteers will remove fence staples and wire clips using bolt cutters, roll up wire, and remove T-Posts. We will try to finish at a reasonable time so folks will have time to fish, hike, or relax at camp if you're staying for the full weekend. Even if you can’t swing the overnight stay we would love to have the help for either day.
We will be working near Juniper Mountain on Saturday and BLM land on Sunday.
What to bring for the work day: Leather gloves, safety glasses (sunglasses are fine), and fence tools (pliers, post puller, etc) if you have them but not necessary. Plenty of water, sunscreen, bug spray, and proper clothing for working outside and removing fence (jeans, boots, long-sleeve shirt).
**Campsite & meeting location TBD**
